What I Did After Eating a Bag of M&M’s Featured

I’ve struggled with a few slip-ups lately with my diet, especially since it’s the end of summer and there have been more gatherings and social events to attend. While I try to follow my healthy eating plan daily, there are definitely times that I fall prey to late-night cravings and other mishaps.

Recently, after a night of drinking with friends, I found myself bingeing on a package of peanut butter M&M’s in my pantry. I purchased them to make my favorite 30-calorie salty sweet treats that I previously blogged about, but after a few cocktails, my inhibitions were down, and I allowed myself to break open the bag and eat a few…which turned into a handful… which turned into another dip into the bag. The next morning, I felt guilty and icky.

My SHAPE team says slip-ups are normal, and it’s important to get back on track right away instead of allowing yourself to indulge even more with the “all or nothing” mentality. I went to the gym the morning of the post-M&M's pig-out and got right back on track with my healthy eating plan. Slip-ups will always be a part of life, and it’s best to just pick myself up and keep moving forward.
