The advantage of a medium height cabinet installation is that you can have the looks and ample storage of a pantry or tall cabinet combined with the convenience of an extra surface. Your walls don’t look crowded and you maximize your storage space. This kind of configuration is especially convenient in kitchens that have low ceilings, soffits or are not too big.

You can create an attractive medium-height cabinet with stacked AKURUM fridge cabinets that are normally placed above the fridge. These are 15”-high, 30” wide and 24″ deep.  You can find them with the cabinet number AK WRD at the IKEA catalogs. For a stable construction, we have used PERFEKT high panels at both sides (cut to size) and then placed the countertop surface. Many contractors seem to forget that you need to reinforce stacked cabinets with side panels. Also, don’t forget to include cabinet legs and the toe-kick (plinth) for a finished look!
